If the Catholic Church can change doctrine of condoms when the greater evil is AIDS why not change the doctrine on birth control when the greater evil is back alley abortions?

2. I don't think the current Pope gives a rats ass about anything beyond his personal ambitions.
I'm not a Catholic, and I certainly have many issues
at odds with Catholic doctrine....
But I believe the last Pope was a decent man
who actually believed in God and cared about people.
The current Pope, not so much of either.

3. Technically, he didn't change the doctrine.
But he did open the door to interesting possibilities. From the one scenario he posed, you can deduce that the use of condoms between heterosexuals, one of whom is sterile, the other of whom has an STD, is not prohibited per se.

And if the use of a contraceptive device is not prohibited in a given circumstance, it cannot be intrisically immoral.

5. The current Pope? No.
Popes later down the road? Maybe, possibly. But, this one? No, I don't think so.

13. He doesn't care about back alley abortions. Just like all right wing nuts,
he's into fetus worship. And he doesn't give a flying fuck about women and girls who die because of illegal abortions. Or even approve of them having an abortion to save their lives.

14. Not as long as he believes birth control causes abortion. This is part
of the battle. Then there is pre-eminence of the fetus' value vs the mother, per Popey.

15. Not a chance in hell... Ideally, catholic parents produce catholic babies/kids.
Not always true, but I think it's much more common than not for children to adopt the religion of their parents, if any. Churches require patrons... telling them to cease reproduction is like shooting yourself in the foot later on down the road. The churches stance is perfectly logical from a self-preservation standpoint - not to mention it can be defended under the tenets of the church doctrine itself. Said otherwise it's a win-win position for the church to uphold.
