SEOUL: South Korea and Australia have urged China to adopt a stronger stance against North Korea after Tuesday's attack on Yeonpyeong island left four people dead.
China, the North's sole major ally, has failed to join international condemnation of Pyongyang for the attack.
The Korea Times called on China to "behave as a responsible member of the international community", saying the world's second largest economy must become pro-active regionally and globally.
"This is not the Cold War era but North Korea is still living with a Cold
War mentality. Without peace on the Korean peninsula, China's prosperity will
also be in jeopardy," the Times said.

And from a BBC commenter on the morn... analysts believe Beijing does not have that much pull over N. Korea...
So let's hope we don't go into Guns of August scenario, the absolute worst case... there are way too many defense pacts that could and will be triggered if hostilities resume.
