Woman arrested for gun threat in shopping line, police say
A 21-year-old Middleton woman was arrested Thursday night when she threatened other shoppers while waiting in line at the Toys R Us store, 7309 West Towne Way, which opened for Black Friday shopping at 10 p.m., Madison police reported.

Several hundred shoppers were in line just after 10 p.m., when the woman attempted to move to the front of the line, police said. When she was confronted by other shoppers, she made threats to retrieve a gun and shoot the shoppers.

No gun was found, and the woman, who was not named, was arrested and taken to the Dane County Jail on a tentative charge of disorderly conduct.

"She's now spending her shopping money to post bond," said Madison Police Sgt. Erik Fuhremann.

1. You know, I hate lines as much as anyone, but this woman is obviously very, very stupid
and deserves whatever she gets, IMO.

2. She was arrested for disorderly conduct and no gun was found on the scene.

I know you didn't choose the headline, but it is misleading.

6. nah, most headlines don't quote the statute, but give the reason a person was arrested
and often the reason is worse than what they are charged with. If she actually threatened people, then that;s most likely the reason the cops were called in.

10. maybe, but the headline could make the average reader think an actual gun was involved.

I agree, her treat of violence was why the police were called in.

13. I think it would have said possession and threat or wielding a firearm in that case
but I have family that are LEOs so, I'm sensitive to the differences. Threats are often just that, only threats. Which is most likely why she was only charges w/ disorderly. If she had a gun in her car, she wold have been charged with threatening and possibly unlawful possession.

15. Unsurprising
For most of this woman's 21 years, the United States has been at war, trying hard to prove that might makes right. Why shouldn't the same philosophy govern when you want to get to the front of the checkout line? And what's with all those America-haters confronting her?

16. Interesting point
I suppose this applies to other eras in other countries, as humans have always been at war in one place or another.
