In the 1950's Coca-Cola began marketing soda pop for babies.

"If you really want to give your baby a head start in life by improving their social standing and guaranteeing their happiness, start feeding them Coca-Cola, Pepsi and other sugary carbonated beverages at the earliest age possible. Even babies as young as a few months old will enjoy the many benefits of soda pop."

Hooray for capitalism!

:puke:

1. Some of those old ads are a trip. I just saw one, doctors for Camel cigarettes.
"What brand do doctor prefer most? Camels."

And it showed a doctor smoking at his desk. :)

I was born in 70 and my pediatrician smoked. He also said give me as many colas as I wanted because she was worried about my kidneys being in such bad shape when I was born. My mother was also told by my pediatrician to put beer in my milk to ween me off the alcohol she craved while she was pregnant with me. I licked my lips raw before they did that. After that, they weened me off the beer and the lip licking thing stopped...except when I see chocolate.

6. Can you spell G U L L I B L E ? This is a spoof -
- There was never a Soda Pop Board of America. I mean, the name is just unbelievable based on the fact that "soda pop" was/is a regional term.

Google is your friend when confronted by insane items like this.

8. Thanks for this.
I looked and thought - but I am gullible/naive enough to fall for something like that. So, thank you for reminding me to fact check a bit more.

9. "soda" is a regional term and "pop" is a regional term
(in reference to soft drinks)

but "soda pop" isn't

Not that the ad isn't fake. It looks that way to me too.

This one pops up every once in a while, and always finds folks eager to spread it further. Congratulations! You're the latest person fooled by this prank. You won't be the last.

12. Considering how corporations almost killed breastfeeding in the US in the 1950's,
this fake ad isn't all that unbelievable for those of us that didn't have the benefit of their mother's milk.
