WikiLeaks Urges Public to Download ‘Insurance’ File
WikiLeaks Urges Public to Download ‘Insurance’ File

This is interesting, to say the least. Whistle-blowing organization Wikileaks is urging the public to download their ever-so-famous “insurance” file from The Pirate Bay, according to a recently transmitted tweet. This file, nearly 2GB in size, is said to contain thousands of secret U.S. documents aimed at embarrassing the nation’s government, and potentially causing harm to the United States’ relations with allies.

The file has been around since this Summer and is heavily encrypted . In the event of Wikileaks’ founder’s death (or some other unspecified reason), the secret key would be released — exposing the documents to all who have downloaded and obtained the key.

We’re not sure as to why Wikileaks is now urging users to download the file, but it just may be that they’re soon planning to release the key.

This is a developing story. Stay tuned.

1. This would probably have DHS, CIA and NSA sitting on your doorstep. I can't
imagine they're not tracking 2GB files like this for downloads.

6. Many many virus programs...
will give you an alert JUST because it's a torrent file. It doesn't matter if it's a Wikileaks file or the newest MP3.

They treat all torrents as suspect, just because...

7. Since some people who support wikileaks are of the opinion that all information should be known
I will not download the file since I do not know what is in that file, nor do i trust what is in that file until wikileaks post an exact count of everything that is within it, after all, why are they keeping the information of the file hidden?

8. I guess it's not 'ever-so-famous' ...
as someone thought. Generating PR though, no doubt.

9. I downloaded, but then deleted -- seeing all the warnings
after the fact.

I have no idea what that file may be. It could contain a virus. I trust that wikileaks has information, but I don't now about the file itself. If a virus appears, I will no where it came from. The file was never opened and was some kind of .exe.

I don't need to see this information to know that this government is corrupt in so many ways we would all be shocked to know the depths -- including the far right-wing extremist tea bag sheep.

14. glad I deleted. Since that was the file I had. I have a Mac
and thought it strange the file had a Windows extension.
