North Korea has also deployed missiles near its disputed border with the South, the Yonhap news agency reported.

It comes as the South and the United States begin four days of joint military exercises in the waters off the Korean west coast.

North Korea has condemned the exercises as a provocation.

Artillery fire has been heard near Yeonpyeong Island, which was shelled by the North on Tuesday. Four South Koreans - two marines and two civilians - were killed.

2. And what exactly are we engaging in military exercises off the Korean cost for?
I get that North Korea is not a very nice place to live and they have a crazy person as a dictator, but I also don't get why we keep playing war games off their coast. This has been going on since before the latest incident. They're not a noble nation by any stretch of the imagination, but we're playing a dangerous game with them.

5. Two points
1.- The Korean War did not end...an armistice is not the end of the war

2.- We have been holding these exercises as part of the 16 nation coalition.

It would be a good thing to read history.

So if the conflict should resume don't think of running to Canada, they're part of the UN force...

That is why... The forgotten war never really ended. The people in Soul know this.

8. Well, for one
The threat of an invasion is very real. So, would you rather have your military trained in the area that the invasion would take place? Or some other far off area?

As well, it is muscle flexing. But, I don't know how much that does to deter NK, they clearly don't care.
