We need to have an adult conversation.
Is everyone else already as sick of that condescending expression as I am?

What it's actually saying is that if you disagree with the line of shit we're trying to shovel down your throat, you're not behaving like an adult.

If you don't like the ridiculous false choice between porno-radiation-scanners and groping pat down screenings, we need to have an adult conversation about security.

If you think the cat food commission forcing seniors to work until they drop is preferable to regulating the criminal enterprise that has become Wall Street, we need to have an adult conversation about "austerity".

It's already more annoying than referring to your fuck up a "teachable moment", of which I am also weary.

4. We need to have an adult conversation about how you
misstate the opinions of others.

Security is an issue. We can't ignore it totally. Wall Street is not a "criminal enterprise." If you have a job or want one you can trace that eventually to Wall Street. Geez, I don't get people sometimes. Do you think we can exist without economic activity? And that there will be no large companies? That job providing businesses can exist without investors?

Grow up.

7. And just how much crap do you seriously believe that we will swallow from the propaganda
machine you tirelessly pimp?

Wall Street is an entirely useless criminal enterprise except of course that they have successfully bought legalization for some of their crimes.

If security is an issue, which is itself highly debatable, it is so as a direct result of the actions and atrocities committed by our governments at the behest of global plunderers.

And your completely cynical and obvious attempt to conflate economic activity with the criminal actions of Wall Street is duly noted.

We are grown and see right through your bullshit.

30. The adult conversation needs to include a method to silence
cheerleaders to start with, and then I propose we start by taking away the "health care" benefits of all in Congress. And they don't need to be paid either, it can be a volunteer position (they are all millionaires anyway so they should do it to "give back".

Next the casino that is wall street needs to be disbanded.

All energy companies, health care & pharmaceutical companies, and anything related to banking needs to be nationalized.

That is on day one.

We'll move on to other problems on day two.

The poster you responded to is NOT the one that needs to "Grow up". I suggest the movie Wall Street to you or perhaps you have heard of Bernie Maddof ot the Wall Street swindlers of the ninties, like Milliken?. Since you are so supportive of big business and believe they provide jobs, perhaps you can explain why , despite huge profits, they are still not hiring? Do you even remember Arther Anderson, Enron, Worldcom or AIG, or are they all okay by you since they ,at one time did provide jobs? And do not forget BP!

43. I'm grown up.
I can tell you that "Security is an issue. We can't ignore it totally" is an immature misdirection of the point. Nobody has suggested that we "ignore it totally." There are other ways to address security without compromising the potential health, dignity, and privacy of travelers. Ignoring that is a sign of immaturity, ignorance, corrupt integrity, and/or malfeasance.

"Do you think we can exist without economic activity? And that there will be no large companies?" is an immature misdirection of the point. The existence of "large companies" is not the issue. The issue involves: 1. The need for stronger, and stringently enforced, anti-trust laws. 2. The corrupt allowance of corporate personhood and corporate influence in and on government. 3. NAFTA/CAFTA and "free" trade rather than fair trade based on labor and environmental standards.

Ignoring that is a sign of immaturity, ignorance, corrupt integrity, and/or malfeasance.

Were capable of conducting an adult convo with their audiences and have more than my-10-second-soundbite / opposing 10 second soundbite on the complicated issues.

They always seem to be talking like everyone watching is 3 years old, or Republican or both.

I thought the MSNBC discussion on immigration with Lawrence O'Donnell was refreshingly adult in that it treated a complicated issue like a complicated issue not just like "the law is the law! Just enforce the laws!" and all that other Fox News shit...

Listening to the BBC, they were about smoking but they also went into a point I have made before...your government treats you like. Child. Why they are telling you, this is the way it is, instead of doing what adults do. Insert issue here, it does not matter. We have at least thirty years of the infantilizaton of the people...it is not a coincidence. And as far as current security is concerned, it is theate, nothing more and nothing less...treating you like a child from cradle to grave...

35. "It is what it is" mostly came out of Sports
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/2004-12-27-cliche-of-year_x.htm

'It is what it is'
By Gary Mihoces, USA TODAY

The Sports Quote of 2004 is a simple, five-word line used by many athletes and coaches to sum up troubles of all sorts and send an instant message that it's time to move on:
"It is what it is."

The phrase is not new. Although the origin is uncertain, it has been around for years.

For three seasons as coach of the NFL's Carolina Panthers, John Fox has made it the favorite among his many short, sweet, motivational sayings. He's hardly alone.

In 2004, in a sports world full of complexities, "It is what it is" has joined the ranks of familiar sports clichés such as, "We're playing them one at a time" and "There is no tomorrow."

"It is what it is" has become the all-purpose alternative to the long-winded explanation.

What better way to sum up the November spat between the NBA's Indiana Pacers and Detroit Pistons that led to a brawl between Detroit players and Indiana fans in the stands? "Obviously, you never want to see something like that happen, but it is what it is," Pacers guard Reggie Miller said.

37. I believe you need to be an adult to have an adult conversation
And think.

Why do you think it's condescending? You can "converse" any way you want. Your choice of words and phrases is definitely colorful and reactionary. I don't have a problem with that. You've just decided to limit the level of thinking in your conversations and limit the size of your conversing audience.

Being pissed about something brings out the best and worst in people. Just sayin'.

It's condescending because it's only invoked when the powerful and influential attempt to silence those of us who won't call torture, "enhanced interrogation"; kidnapping, "extraordinary rendition"; sexual assault, "enhanced pat down"; wealth-concentrating tax cuts, "stimulus".

The cowards are the ones who won't say "shit" if they have a mouthful.

The so-called adults call for a bipartisan study to evaluate the fecund contents of the mouths.

42. There is no basis for a conversation there
What you are describing is propaganda-ish. It's like I believe we're in a Depression but those that dictate the words and phrases to be used call it a "Slow Recovery". We're on the same page regarding words and phrases that are used to deflect from the actual event, action, etc.

But that's not a conversation. It's one-sided.
