In other conflict news, Page Six seems to take seriously the clash between Cloris LEACHMAN and Betty WHITE. Other articles about the original jibe said that Cloris was joking.

Guests at a Houston Police Department fund-raiser held their breath when Sharon Bush came face to face with her ex-husband, Neil Bush, brother of former President George W. Bush, and Maria Andrews, his new wife. Andrews' ex-husband, Robert Andrews, sued Sharon in 2003 for slander after she alleged that her ex, Neil, was the father of Andrews' son. At the recent benefit at the River Oaks home of millionaire Tilman Fertitta, our source related, "Neil, with Maria in tow, approached Sharon, who was seated at the head table. When greeted by Maria, Sharon could only blurt out, 'How's the baby?' Maria looked stunned and replied, 'Well, he's not a baby anymore.' " A paternity test ordered by Sharon Bush's lawyers showed Andrews was the father. The slander suit was thrown out by a judge in 2005. The source added, "When Sharon asked Neil about some stock she said was owed to her in the divorce, Neil snarled, 'Get a life,' before he sulked off."

Betty White has finally fired back to a months-old dig from 84-year-old "Malcolm in the Middle" actress Cloris Leachman. In an interview with reporters at the Television Critics Association tour in August for Leachman's new Fox show, "Raising Hope," Leachman had said, "I'm so sick of Betty White. Never liked her." Yesterday, asked to comment on the remark in a Wall Street Journal online profile of Leachman by Amy Chozick, White, 88, snapped back: "Is she still conscious?"
