Twas the Night Before Leakmas, by Poll_Blind:
The secrets were kept, while the citizens slept But the secret keepers were wide awake Because they saw the crimes, committed at times By the government in our name's sake
And so they tried, as time went by To bring this to their superior's attention But saw no hide nor hair of the government's care told "Of these things we demand no mention!"
Lacking a remedy, throwing off all timidity A few of them decided to shout it They turned their attention to a brand new invention: WikiLeaks would be their tool to help out it!
With the first leak, that first little peek The government mostly ignored it But as leaks had grown and ugly truths became known The government came to abhor it!
Filled with fear, about dirty secrets held dear Our government could no longer stand it They knew from where the leaks came, but instead blamed Assange "Arrest him, now! We command it!"
'Round the world Julian hops, and never long stops With our government hot on his trail He fully-well knows the strange life he chose: The leakers are safe when governments chase his tail!
We accuse him of treason, yet for some strange reason On Der Spiegel, Le Monde all are quiet No accusation of crimes against The New York Times He releases, they print it, you buy it!
Whether or not WikiLeaks is the venue, the leaks will continue Because it's not about them at all It's about secrets and crimes that weigh heavily on minds And a government who cares little to right it all.
