Michigan families suffered a 21% drop -- from $57,499 to $45,255 -- in median family income from 2000 through 2009, according to the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey. Michigan's 6.2% decline from 2008 to 2009 was the most of any state and double the national decline.

1. How'd the Wall Street Bankers do?
The concept that some worthless Wall Street financiers are paid millions and millions for doing shady wheeling dealing disturbs me. And it disturbs me even more that after things went awry, main street was stuck making them whole again. Now they are back on the fast track of huge compensation while average Americans are earning less and less such as in Michigan.

At the very least we need to put a 90% marginal tax on these dudes as we used to have. They perform nothing of serious value to society yet they are at the top of the income food chain. The media covers up the most outrageous parts to keep us stupidified and docile.

3. The middle class--below about 60,000 annually have been hit
all across the country.

For those who lost jobs, they simply could not find
another job at the same pay scale. This has been going
on for a long long time. In the last 10 years the
drop has been more pronounced.
