How Obama could move himself 3% closer to re-election in 2012:
Cancel invasive TSA screening, effective immediately. Do it in a presser or televised speech, where he can address Americans directly.

As insignificant as it is, no issue during his presidency has unified Americans more.

1. I'd rather not him make any more decisions based on how it'll make him "look"
God knows he's done enough of that already.

Don't get me wrong, I believe it would be the right thing to do to take another direction with TSA screening, I just don't like the idea that it would be a purely political move.

If he does it, it damn well be because of what a shitty policy it is, but I guess we would never know either way.

2. I think polls show the opposite.

This is not to say that the TSA screenings are good or that he shouldn't end them -- it's simply to say that it would not necessarily help him for re-election as you suggest.

8. It's a repub tactic to piss people off at the government via the TSA. Then after we're attacked
again they'll blame Obama for not keeping us safe.
