A world of misery left by bullying
The article below is well worth reading. It is long, but very informative. For parents the bullying worry is always present. As a former teacher, I've always regretted not being as strong an anti-bullying advocate as I believe I could have. Very pleased to see a continued focus on this issue.

The focus is on the lifelong effects of bullying.

1. Can you go back to talk to your former colleagues or volunteer in your local school?

2. Good idea.
I may do just that.

I used to catch a lot of crap from male colleagues for stopping bullying when I saw or heard of it. I felt comfortable with my own classes, because of the emphasis I put on mutual respect.

3. Being bullied does last and last, I know first hand
I was even bullied into adult hood until I made retribution all out of comparison to what what done to me, i mean even attempted murder on jobsites, name calling, vehicle vandalism attempted cross/house burning..boy where they surprised with the bullied little fag came out of the house with a 12 gauge pump shotgun..not high heel.

5. Great article, especially this part quoted below moved me.

"That day, his attackers were bolder, going at him on the gym floor. As they did, Testaverde recalls, he had looked up to see the gym teacher watching, shaking his head in disgust.

“That was the hardest thing — seeing someone who had the responsibility to deal with it, who wasn’t, because he thought I wasn’t being a man or something,’’ he says. “It felt horrible, and it felt like something I had to live with . . . I felt like I probably deserved it, because if it was wrong, somebody would be doing something about it.’’

That's despicable that the gym teacher did that. And did nothing to stop it.
