US Army Continues to Deny PTSD Benefits
unhappycamper note: Since the ‘Pentagon’ (DoD? Gannett?) has ‘requested’ that I only post one paragraph from articles on Army Times, and Airforce Times, To keep in that same (new) tradition, I will also do the same for for articles on Navy Times, Marine Corps Times, stripes.com and military.com.
To read the article in the military's own words, you will need to click the link.

Read all about Fair Use here. It sure is beginning to smell like fascism.

unhappycamper summary of this article: I'm guessing the Army is trying to save Veterans Administration $$$$.

California National Guard Staff Sgt. Francisco Carrillo is shown in Iraq during his deployment there. The Army says Carrillo is lying about suffering from symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder.

Guardsman, Army at odds over PTSD claim
By Michael Hoffman - Staff writer

That was five years ago. Today, Carrillo is locked in a battle with the Army. He says he has suffered symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder since he returned from the deployment in 2005.

2. Thanks, uhc.
No recognition of PTSD, or TBI...is there anything veterans can get recognized as having?

Maybe they will work it like Agent Orange and wait until everybody is dead. They will use you and throw you away.

One note: Actually, the Department of the Army would be the agency paying his disability retirement benefits. His disability pension wouldn't be paid by DVA unless he exercises his option to convert to DVA payments.

6. How gracious of the army..2005 was not a good year for ptsd
The ones who came out in the open were critisized, ridiculed, called "Pussies".
trust me,I know one...who didn't come out because of that.

7. Apparently his first sergeant is the cause of this problem
it would seem to me that the foundation for the first sergeant's denial that this event occured as alleged by the claimant is lacking, at least in this article.

nevertheless, since the VA doesn't go by the federal rules of evidence, at least in its admin procedures, the veteran needs to provide eyewitness (hearsay) statements to contradict the first sergeant's denial.
