USMC Needs More Cannon Fodder
unhappycamper note: Since the ‘Pentagon’ (DoD? Gannett?) has ‘requested’ that I only post one paragraph from articles on Army Times, and Airforce Times, To keep in that same (new) tradition, I will also do the same for for articles on Navy Times, Marine Corps Times, stripes.com and military.com.
To read the article in the military's own words, you will need to click the link.

Read all about Fair Use here. It sure is beginning to smell like fascism.

unhappycamper summary of this article: Now that the Stop Loss program is officially dead, the Corps is looking for fresh, new meat.

Recruits Bernard Garcia (front) and Emerson Dorsey sight their rifles during Marine Crops Recruit Training on Oct. 20 at Camp Pendleton, Calif.

1. I worked recently at the USMC station in San Diego
and was very impressed by the recruits in their dress blues. Then I thought the same thing....that these sharp dressed young men and women were, as you put it, "cannon fodder". Let's end these insane wars.

2. The lousy economy serves their needs
I remember back in the late 90's, all the armed services were complaining about a lack of qualified recruits because everyone could get jobs elsewhere. Guess Bushco solved that problem too....
