Also, watching her press conference on TV, I assume that in the mainstream world, this entire event actually will help her. She has not really been the person out front on most major diplomatic issues. This placed her and Obama as the ones in "Washington" making the policy. To her credit, it was a strong press conference.

I would bet that only on the left are people looking at the type of articles linked above.

President Obama does stand up for peace, and just doesn't think we can get out of Afghanistan - geez give people credit where they do a lot rather than bashing them if they don't do the impossible.

And I reckon that most grown-ups do, as well. What I find most interesting is the apparent willingness of folks like the Yemenis to step up and play the scapegoat to cover for U.S. blunders. Well, maybe not that they're willing, but perhaps that their price is so low. Okay, maybe it's the initial price that's so low, like one of those cable teevee packages. Then, after the "introductory" period, you're locked in to much higher rates for a minium commitment period of two years or so.

Okay, maybe it's not so interesting that other countries are willing to blackmail us, but why do we so willingly and repeatedly jam a fork into the electrical outlet (metaphorically speaking)?

Lucky for us, the popular media will soon be distracted by something (anything) and our curiosity can die a natural death from starvation.

Because I was vocal about how I felt in the 2088 primaries, and I do not want to sound like I am ripping open an old wound.

But I will say, outright, that one thing is proven. Some people wanted Hillary because they wanted to see a woman finally get into the Oval Office, some people wanted Barack because they wanted to see a Black man finally get into office.

But Washington and Wall Street ensure that, sooner or later, no matter what your outside is, your inside becomes the same: you start thinking like a rich white male, because you know they are the ones that determine your fate.

But wikileaks also shows a way forward. Only something untamed like the internet has a hope of actually doing damage to the powers that be, because journalism has been captured. Even most blogs, like daresay the blessed Huffpo, are so close to the establishment that they can only vary so much. We need people like Assange, who frankly, may turn out to be a bigger hero than anyone that can win the presidency.
