Getting ready to fly
I'm told that those of us with implants can expect both the Xray and the pat-down. As many times as I've been taken apart and put back together, well, I can't imagine anyone getting all hot and bothered looking at that screen. And I'm ticklish. Very. So it could get interesting.

I don't imagine that the TSA workers are enjoying the abuse they're getting from travelers any more than those travelers are enjoying getting felt up. I just hope the people in line behind me are reassured that I'm not packing anything more treacherous than a wide ass. Meanwhile, we'll have a better process someday (soon, we hope), but the one we've got right now isn't sufficient to keep me from going home for Christmas. I can get over the momentary discomfort of the screening; I'm not at all sure that I could get over being blown to smithereens.

1. If I believed for a moment the scanners & gropes would detect...
the kind of explosives that are used to justify them (and our giving up any semblance of our 4th amendment rights), I would surely agree with you and applaud your attitude. I can still applaud your attitude, though I can't agree. Travel safely madamesilverspurs.

2. Do you understand that these screenings are theater?
They are not keeping you any safer.

3. I wonder
If I was intending to fly, as long as they are pulling this crap I won't (unless I get a job that requires -- need the money so I would have no choice), if I am willing to strip naked can I avoid the scan or the patdowns?

7. One guy stripped down to his underwear and got arrested.
But when a girl stripped down to her bikinis they let her through.
So I really have no idea what the response is going to be.

4. Make sure to wear tinfoil-lined underwear
TSA workers and ANYONE in a position of authority, at least, deserves verbal abuse for following totalitarian orders.

5. I'm flying on Thursday
My local airport doesn't have the body scanners, yet, and I don't think where I'm flying to does, either. No doubt that will change, soon. This will probably be my last time flying because the whole process is getting to be far more agro than it's worth. Getting nickle and dimed to death by the airlines, and groped by the TSA, kind of takes all the fun out of travel.

6. Looking for terrorist in the airport is like looking for a needle

in the hay stack. Do you really think these procedures are going to make you all that safer?

9. Catching a "terrorist" in a crowded line of travelers...
even if it were possible to do, would surely result in the death of hundreds on the ground, if not more. What do people think those TSA automatons would do with their trays and wands?

We've traded some bizarre notion of safety in the sky (for those who buy into it) to tremendously increased risk on the ground.

10. By the way I just love the logic "I rather be patted down than
blown up." Considering almost anything is better than be blown up, how low can you go?
I rather fly naked than be blown up?
I rather undergo a full cavity search than be blown up?
Where does it stop?
