And One More Thing, Fellow Dems...
FDR GOT ELECTED TO FOUR TERMS !!!

THE CONGRESS WAS HELD IN MAJORITY BY THE DEMOCRATS, FOR 40 FUCKING YEARS because of FDR !

The Republicans got the 22nd Amendment passed limiting the Presidency to two terms because of FDR !

When FDR died, the entire world mourned ! (Except for a few Germans and Japanese about to go to jail or be executed.)

So PLEASE... do not lecture us on what a "good" Democrat is... we know exactly what one is!

1. Only 17 Republicans left in the Senate after the 1934 midterm elections
A little different than the current situation...

17. After the Great Depression
Republicans were held accountable by the electorate.

This time the right wing controlled nearly the entire media so they got their "story" out that the collapse was caused by poor minorities borrowing money they never intended to pay back. They told the gullible the reason the poor could get away with this was because the Democrat's Community Reinvestment Act 'forced' the banks to make these bad loans. These talking points saturated the airwaves and essentially watered down any Republican responsibility for the second great depression.

3. Yes, all that'll be necessary will be to "primary" out Obama,
and pick a candidate who'll deliver something like this

WHY do some people don't seem to get grasp this simple concept?

6. When FDR was alive, he had the moxie to realize that in order to accomplish anything of permanence,
he needed to keep solid control of congress in the 1934 mid-term election. So he dis WHATEVER was necessary to mollify his Blue Dogs (Southern Democrats, many rabid racists). In one example, he toyed with Upton Sinclair in his race for Governor of California. And at the last minute, he (to use DU's favorite phrase) "Threw him under the bus"! And Merriam, Sinclair's rival and a loathsome reactionary, was able to claim that he was campaigning "in the spirit of the New Deal"!

Was FDR "bad" then, a "triangulater"? Hard to say. He knew that the greatest obstacle to his New Deal would have been the Supreme Court. Google "The Four Horsemen Of Reaction", and you'll see what FDR had to contend with.

7. Yet... The People Saw Him As ON THEIR SIDE !!!
Unlike the squishy reality we are dealing with now.

And in politics... perception is pert near everything.

We're up to our armpits in SHIT, and you're thinking in terms of a snake-oil medicine show, or a "come to Jesus" tent meeting? WTF???

Okay, tell us all WHICH (living) candidate can primary out Obama in 2012, and deliver the winning perception? And remember: If we don't get it right in 2012, it might be a very loooong time before we're up at bat again! Frankly, I don't think we have all that much time. Do you?

9. Sure... As Long As You Are Willing To Give The Majority Amounts (In Numbers) Of...
Thoughtful, educated, well-reasoned Americans that spend their spare hours debating and reading up on history and politics that will form the foundation of the Democratic Golden Age.

Ya see... it don't matter how smart or dumb you and I are...

We have to find a clever way to CONvince the rest of our fellow yahoos to do right by themselves, and therefore... ourselves.

Not only is politics NOT beanball, it ain't a college debate final either.

See the ENTIRE Realm... and act accordingly.

12. I'm Not Into A Dick Comparing Contest...
Again... How do YOU propose we educate the necessary numbers of people (to win re-election) that Obama and his Administration are on the correct path.

Cause I sure as shit ain't seeing it!

14. I Believe I Saw More Than Enough November 2, 2010...
A whole shitload of folk who voted Dem/Obama in 2008 stayed home.

Why?

Yeah... somewhat normal for mid-terms after a change of party in the Presidency, yet...

I see nothing to root for in 2012!

"He's not a Republican"

I cannot convey to you, how old and tired that has become.

Its magic wanes...

10. I doubt the innocent German, Italian & Japanese Americans
held in American Concentration camps, mourned for him much. They had already been falsely imprisoned and certainly were not about to be executed, that probably just worried them during internment.

Although it was the end of the era of intentional mass targeting of civilians for atrocities (Hamburg, Dresden, Tokyo, etc.)

15. I'm Fairly Certain FDR Would Be Comfortable With His Record On Concentration Camps...
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_A24UZctD--E/Sdwp__h1YSI/AAAAAAAAAjM/LIMpLtU8faQ/s400/Concentration+Camp+Dachau.jpg

Don't get me wrong, I hate that we did that, I hate Dresden, and I hate Hiroshima and Nagasaki, But...

I wasn't there, and neither were you.

Someday, if we are very lucky, politics and right and wrong, will be one and the same.

But it wasn't then, and it still is not now.
