1. Depends. If unemployment is above 8% we'll be lucky to retain the Presidency.
And it is projected to be between 8 and 9 percent.

6. Today? Zero.
I doubt that, in the next two years, the republiks will be nearly as accommodating to the Democrats as the Democrats have been to the republiks.

10. I understand that and again, as of right now the Democrats would be looking at more losses.
They've abandoned, ignored, and insulted a large part of their base. They have failed miserably to effect any change in the course that we are on in any way that the people living in the real economy can see. It is not enough to keep saying "well it would be worse" to people for whom it already is worse.

I believe that the republiks won the last election for the same reason the Democrats won the two before, that being that they are the other guys, the only alternative.

We will see how bad the republiks are over the next two years and that might be enough to keep power in 2012, but there are some serious miscalculations being made in that insulated bubble of DC and, barring some crisis or miraculous return to sane governance, the disappointment, desperation, and anger are going to continue to increase.

12. If the Republicans run a truly, truly awful Presidential candidate
and enough people turn out to vote against her (*cough* I mean him or her) then maybe we might retake the house on the coattails?

Mostly because of how badly the GOP is already screwing up and the new Congress isn't even sworn in yet.
