How long has it been since you had a pay raise?

Poll question: How long has it been since you had a pay raise?

I think about all the complaining that is starting over the two year Federal worker pay freeze, and I think about how it is over 5 years since my pay has gone up. maybe these folks should walk in my shoes

1. I'm on social security,

so it's been a couple of years. Before that, I was a self-employed legal transcriptionist for 10 years and my rates varied with the job.

2. I've had one raise in the last five years. That's about average this

day and age.

3. Other: I have been unemployed or self-employed for 6.5 of the last 10 years.

During my employed 3.5 years, I got pay raises, but they were under a union contract, and only a few dollars.

5. I'm on social security and I have a part time job.

I haven't had a cost of living raise for two years on SS and never got a raise on my job that I have been working at for the last three years because SS wasn't enough for me to live on. My rent got recently raised $100 a month and my health insurance another $20 a month. I already talked to my boss about giving me extra hours. However, I feel well off compared to other people who are being nickeled and dimed by the very wealthy.

6. Make way less than I did 10 years ago at the same job.

Boo hoo for the federal employees. As far as I can see they need to sit it out for a while. I don't care about unions or contracts. As a small business we have had big business renegotiate our contracts and then ask for 15% less than that after the agreement. People in this country need to understand that the working folks have been taking concessions over the years. Not all of us but some evidently.

7. I work for local government

and have had no COLA and no raise for 3 years....nada nothing. Last year the bosses felt bad and gave us a mid year (which happends to fall around Christmas) $300 bonus. Wonder if they will feel bad again this year?

16. Ditto. I also work for local government

and haven't had a raise for 3 years. I don't remember how much my last raise was but it was small - certainly couldn't truly be considered a "cost of living" raise. I don't expect to get one next fiscal year either.

8. My last pay raise was $0.10/hr.

9. I gave myself a pay raise a couple of months ago.

I decided that the freelance web content work I'm doing was worth more than I was being paid. So I raised my rates 25%. No change in the amount of work I have to do. I'll raise it again in six months if I'm still busy.

I got a 50 cent an hour raise after my 1 year anniversary.

11. I got a 9% raise this year! (Well, actually, our furloughs came to an end)

We were supposed to get real raises over the last several years, but it didn't happen...

13. Its been a net negative for me

My pension amount has stayed the same while having to pay more for medical deductibles and co-pays. Amount coming in has been the same. But the amount going out has increased.
