I heard ol Mitch on NPR and what he said today really burned my ass so I sat down and wrote him a little email. Thought I'd share it with the good folks here ;)
Dear Sen.McConnel,
I was listening to NPR today and heard a bit of a segment about your meeting with the President. You were speaking about further extending the tax cuts for the wealthiest among us which are set to expire soon.
You said, to paraphrase, that you wanted "a tax system that was the same for all of us" , that you didn't want a "bifurcated system" that treated people in different economic strata differently.
Oh really? If this is true, then let me draw your attention for a moment to Social Security. Yeah, now there's your "bifurcated system" in action. The wealthy enjoy the benefit of a cap while clock punching working stiffs like me pay FICA on EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR WE EARN!
You people are always running around like Chicken Little hollering that the sky is falling on Social Security. Well Senator, here's your chance to help set that right. Come out in favor of removing the earnings cap on Social Security tax, it's the right thing to do.
Otherwise, your rhetoric about how unfair letting the tax cuts for your rich buddies would be is just more blatant hypocrisy from the party of hypocrites.
