Why is Randi Rhodes now shilling for the White House?

Randi Rhodes is fervently defending the Obama Tax Cut Deal and praising Obama's smartness, and sounding like she's using White House talking points. She's emphasizing the payroll tax cut for one (which is really a Social Security funding cut) despite the danger of it leading to the permenant defunding of Social Security, thus possibly leading to the Republicans having the excuse to privatize Social Security. I used to frequently hear Randi Rhodes, but Randi Rhodes has been hard for me to listen to in recent days...

Unrec for the use of 'Shilling' when describing people that have a different viewpoint.

That clarion call was all the rage during the election cycle and has remained. If you disagree with my stance on prescription drugs - you are a shill for big pharma. If you disagree with my stance on the oil spill - you are a shill for BP.

Some people have different opinions. Feel free to say that you disagree or that they are wrong, but to demean them by accusing them of being in the paid service for something else is just beyond the pale.

29. One indicator is that Randi has always been prone toward...

perpetual namedropping of the celebrities / powerful people whom she knows or whom she has simply met once or twice. She's a shameless braggart in this regard. When talking about a famous person she's met in real life, she tends to go into a euphoric state as she rambles on about what a great friendship she has with said individual. She does this often and to a sickening degree. Her attitude often comes across as: "There's no question that I'm superior to most of you because I belong to an elite social class that includes celebrities and high power politicians who YOU can never hope to interact with, much less have personal friendships with like I do." I find this disgustingly arrogant on Randi's part. She can be so rude to her callers. But when a famous or powerful person is speaking with her, it's instant respect and awe.

You might ask what the above has to do with Randi's seemingly ignorant support of Obama's recent sell out to the Republicans. Well, Randi has always been infatuated with Barack Obama and his celebrity persona. Once he became our president she seemed to commit to him unconditionally with a "he's so god-like and can do no wrong" embracement. When she commits in this way to some high-profile person, even an 'act of Congress' (proverbial pun intended) can't easily dissuade her blind defense of that person's unreasonable and / or harmful behaviors.

Randi used to demonstrate this type of blind, raving support for Bill Clinton. She started doing it when she first became nationally syndicated on Air America. She went on and on with it for quite a long time. She used to refer to him as "my president" during her sappy descriptions of how great he is / was.

The short answer: Randi is starstruck.

30. Shilling? Because she agrees that it's the ONLY bill that is going to stop the repukes

from a huge christmas present, which is a campaign theme for 2012 "OBAMA and the democrats raised your taxes!". The tea baggers are frothing at the mouth, HOPING that nothing is signed this year so that they will still be "relevant" in they eyes of the media for the next campaign season.

If the president gets the dems to sign this bill, not only does he save the lower and middle class from suffering from a tax increase, but he will also be taking the bat out of the repukes hands for the 2012 election. It's a brilliant move and we are shooting ourselves in the foot by pretending that the republicans will come around to our way of thinking and will voluntarily sign a bill that only helps those who need help. THEY WON'T!!! If that's the kind of bill that they signed, then they wouldn't be republicans. They'd be democrats!
