What's behind the war on WikiLeaks by Ray McGovern (12-8-10 Consortium News)
"WikiLeaks has teased the genie of transparency out of a very opaque bottle, and powerful forces in America, who thrive on secrecy, are trying desperately to stuff the genie back in."

3. Here's an example of why I support what WikiLeaks is doing-some docs about US torture history from
The National Security Archives (pdf), a memo from the CIA's IG circa January 1975 (of course, post-Watergate epoch) about one such "project" (to counter the lies contained within "we don't torture")

Memorandum For The Record January 31, 1975
Subject:
Project ARTICHOKE

ARTICHOKE is the Agency cryptonym for the study and/or use of "special" interrogation methods and techniques.

These "special" interrogation methods have vbeen known to include the use of drugs and chemicals, hypnosis, and "total isolation" a form of psychological harassment...

Btw, I met Ray McGovern when he spent a couple of days speaking at my old school (UWGB) years ago. Thanks again Ray for changing my views about the US intelligence community in a very positive way.
Thanks VIPS.
Thanks WikiLeaks.
