Fox News just censured me from their opinion forum
For the last 3 evenings, I have been visiting Fox News
"opinion" forum, and was very happily posting
answers to outrageous, insulting, mostly stupid and uneducated
posts by Fox News' addicts.

Several of my posts were censured and just
"disappeared" from the forum. But, as of tonight at
6 pm, I showed 68 posts and 64 "like" on those
posts.

Then, a few minutes ago, I tried to return to the forum, but
was no longer "logged in."
I attempted to log in several times, but my e-mail and user
name were not recognized. I then selected the "don't
remember password" selection and was asked to enter my
e-mail. I did that and received repeated replies stating that
"my e-mail address was not valid!"

Have any of you experienced this before? It is obviously
their chicken way of censuring people who are disagreeing with
the "Fox News addict profile" and who, in spite of
not being in the mainstream of Fox News addicts, receives
significant positive responses.

Is there any way to go through their "censure"
process.
I even tried to register again as a new member, by using an
alternate e-mail address. . .but once again I got the message
of "this e-mail address is not valid," which seems
to indicate that they are censuring not just the e-mail
address but the IP address.

Any suggestion???

2. Thank you for the suggestion. . .but why accept censure of our free speech???
This is why the Fox News addicts are so convinced that "AMERICA" agrees with them!
They ONLY hear and read people who are ACCEPTED in their bubble. . .

DU: This is a forum for progressives/Democrats.
Fox News: We're fair and balanced.

So, right, it's not a First Amendment issue but it's hypocrisy.

1. If it's by IP address, you can try an open proxy. This involves changing your browser's network settings.
2. See if there's any relevant regular cookies or Flash cookies and delete those.
3. try 1 and 2.

10. I do care about freedom of speech AND about the main reason why so
many otherwise "nice" and "intelligent" people appear to be totally brainwashed by Fox News.

I believe that, by keeping dissending opinions off their opinion sites (at least if those dissending opinions receive some positive attention) Fox News is building a "bubble" around their carefully brainwashed addicts, and is in that way interfering with people's right to free speech.

You may think that this is not important. . .I believe that, in ONE case alone, it may not be important, even if I am the victim of this. BUT, if it is an ongoing "policy," it is a clear interference with people's liberties and a clear indication of their purposeful attempt to repress any dissending opinions.

22. This isn't a matter of freedom of speech.
Their forums are a private institution, and as such they can decide what they want to publish and what they don't want to publish. It's no more an infringement of freedom of speech than it is that they haven't given me a book deal.

26. It's not considered the same thing in American jurisprudence
Private organizations have the right to regulate what is said on their property and what is written in their media. This is what prevents you from going into work and disrupting meetings, sending nasty emails to people, etc. If you do this, they will at a minimum stop you from doing it and more likely fire you.

If you were out on a public road and speaking, or writing in a government forum and they stopped you from speaking or writing, that is considered censorship and a restriction on your freedom of speech.

You will note that the protections in the bill of rights that concern this speak of congress and governments, not private entities.

1st amendment:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

And they have the right to ban me. . .but they should at least have the decency to communicate their decision with me.

In addition, I believe it is important that the Fox News addicts realize that, if everyone posting in their forum agree with them, it is SOLELY because those who dissent are not allow to post their opinion anymore.

34. If you want to argue with them, what about arguing with them on Twitter?

I would think twitter is more like an open forum.

Fox News is not an open forum.

Just don't say or do anything to violate the Twitter terms of service.

Personally, I doubt if you can change their minds anyway.
I find their opinions reprehensible and nonsensical and cruel and mean.
They are <...I better delete my own expletive...>.

I usually come across a few of them when I search twitter for something.
I block them, as a matter of course, to avoid them in the future.

I filter out any twitter with the tags, #tcot or #teaparty when I search.

Please tell me what other tags I should filter out...tears and laughter.

I do not post or read post to confirm my beliefs or because I enjoy the repetition of the same opinions over and over again.

I read post and post myself mostly to encourage communication and to discuss ideas or opinions with people who may broaden my way of thinking or may bring into light some issue or argument I haven't thought about.

I believe that it is a lot more useful (and more fun) to "cross polinate" than it is to acquiesce.

So. . . shoot me!

49. umm...
Democratic Underground DOESN'T censor conservatives - the boards are full of them - half of this very thread is arguing the conservative, property-rights argument to this very issue.

DU does ban overt fascists, and trolls, but very little else. George Will or William Kristol wouldn't get banned here, because they can argue civilly, no matter how much you hate what they argue for. Someone like Rush Limbaugh, who thinks personal attacks ARE debate, would get banned for that reason, but a leftist who used the same style would also get banned, just about as fast.

False. You are conflating a reasoned First amendment interpretation with a property-rights "argument," and then falsely implying that the latter is somehow a "conservative" position.

Wery, wery telling, way of doing business, that....
