9. You think for a minute that she actually ate the poor thing? She's a phoney.
I have no problem with people who hunt for food to save money while feeding their families. She's the sort that would pay $40 for a "designer" hamburger. Killing for sport is sick and evil.

16. I have no doubt that she ate it, but I am sure the actual cost of the meat was probably $150 per lb.

when you factor in the cost of chartering airplanes and staying at fancy hunting camps. This was a canned hunt I have no doubt about it. I have a cousin who is a hunting guide and wealthy assholes like the Palins pay him as much as 6 grand a weekend to go on hunting trips.

18. It was probably a farm-raised target animal. I still doubt she ate it. You think she can cook?
"Honey, the smoke alarm went off - that means dinner is done."

2. It wasn't even for sport. It was to promote her public image.
Sad that an animal had to die to try to boost her stupid show's ratings.

22. Alternative to Meat?
Wouldn't you enjoy a meat substitute if it tasted just the same? Why is there little pressure to create such a product? It would save animal suffering and cruelty.

27. There are lots of natural, organic
substitutes made with grains, walnuts, legumes, etc..unlike meat they contain fiber and don't contain cholesterol and require no animal imprisonment or cruelty.

26. what would happen if you
unwittingly ate human flesh, and enjoyed that? Would enjoying be enough reason to keep doing it? Probably not. You'd probably think the price was too high and you'd do without. Suffering is suffering no matter who is doing it.The price of meat consumption is too high.

4. It's just a sick game for her. Watching her stupid show will only boost the ratings.
Not only do I refuse to watch the Wasilla hillbilly's show, I also flip the channel whenever some news network present a clip or segment of her. I can't stand to hear her shrill voice repeating lines that are carefully written to stir up the "patriotic" teabaggers.

6. Hunters: I have a question
I thought you were supposed to take down game with the least number of shots possible. I've not seen the video but I hear she used something like 8 shots to bring down that poor creature? Isn't that excessive?

8. Not a hunter, but have a few in the family:
Among them, missing on the first shot would have been an embarassment. Missing two would have had them sputtering curses at themselves, and if someone else in the group had been shooting it'd be their shot, not the first guy's. Miss three, they would have declared it the caribou's lucky day and let it go.

Five, six shots? Had no business shooting at anything other than a paper target at a range, learning how to actually aim.

23. Same here - hunters in the family
There's an "honor system" that all that hunt uphold. You don't kill unless it's one, clean shot. And you never, never, never allow an animal to suffer needlessly.

I, myself, do not hunt, but I do eat meat. So I don't feel that I can be too critical of hunters. But, there is something entirely different about someone hunting an animal for food, than someone hunting an animal for a trophy.

28. She first used two of her father's guns and missed several times.
Palin then used another friend's rifle and hit the target. It turned out the Sarah's father's rifles weren't sighted in properly.

" She had both on the trip, and when it came time to taking down some caribou, it proved fortuitous that she had her friend Becker, too. With a caribou in range, Sarah took about five shots with two of her father’s guns and missed.

“You shot high,” her father concluded before Sarah tried Becker’s gun. Sarah shot the caribou on her first attempt with the third gun, prompting an excited “There you go baby, there you go,” from Becker (who had already killed one caribou on the trip).

After Sarah posed with her kill for the camera, the Palins and Becker got out their knives and packed up the caribou to take home to Wasilla. But before they could head home, Sarah’s father tested his guns on a target to make sure they were really off. A few shots and missed targets later, he decided they were, and that Sarah was a good shot after all."

7. It was also completely a stunt for the show: she'd obviously never done it before
"Dad" did everything except point the rifle(s) for her (and even then, had to tell her how to hold it).

Nothing in the way she acted indicated she so much as went to a shooting range regularly, much less hunted (sport or otherwise). If she didn't have to do some "outdoorsy Alaska-ish-somethingorother" for the show, she'd have never gotten her ass out in the cold outdoors.

So the animal didn't die for "sport", it died for a photo op.

10. Ick... I don't usually don't jump on the anti-hunter stuff, but that is really screwed up
if the case. I mean, if people hunt for food, that's cool with me. After all, I tend to think those animals probably lived a much better life than the ones we force into factory farms or whatever... but it's pretty tasteless to go out and kill shit for ratings on your pathetic show. I hope they at least ate the thing.

That Caribou looked like it was tame. It just stood there wondering what all of the noise was about.

It wasn't even afraid of the so-called humans shooting at it. I'd bet it was farm-raised and used to people.

14. What did you expect? Everything else about Sister Sarah is phony.
Why would this be any different.

Another thing I noticed, it was a lone caribou-they usually travel in herds.

I mean come on....her Dad yells.......you got it. Like does someone need to be told she's packing a rifle with the most sophisticated site on it that money can buy. I guess some people need Fox news to confirm that she would be one great gun toting prezident!

19. She's Turned Into A Cartoon Character...
Actually she already has been...this show just solidifies it. It shows a very two-dimensional and self-centered opportunist who is more a freak show than a serious individual yet leader. She goes "fishing" yet her hair looks perfect...she goes out hunting and after missing several times gets her "man pants" on. All intended to create an illusion that those who want to believe can't get enough of but is a joke to the rest of us.

Remember, this babe's game is to get reactions. If you try to beat up on her, she turns it around and plays the poor victim. Her game is to yank the chains and watch the cash fall out. The fact people are offended by this stunt means people are still talking about her and they'll tune in next week to see her next outrage. Maybe she'll club a harp seal.
