This will get repealed. It was a promise and all. You recall that, right?

Following are some possible excuses. Pick the one you like best and spread it around.

We just didn't have the votes for it right now.

We had too full an agenda.

We need to use this as leverage for . . . . something, I'm sure.

If you saw this get repealed, the unemployed would lose their benefits.

We can't repeal this while we're trying to fight two wars.

John McCain wasn't sure this was the right time. What can we have done otherwise, yanno?

Those damned, no good Maine-ahs.

We're trying to woo Lindsay Graham. When we get him, we got it knocked. It won't be long now.

Make up your own fun excuses.

5. How did they stall this with their survey? They tried passing this LONG before the survey came out.
The reason they were trying again is because Republicans did the exact same thing months ago.

12. The House didn't bother to wait for the survey.

The senate didn't have to either. Funny thing is that so far the survey has gotten 1 republican vote (Collins).

That's generally how things work in a Constitutional democracy. This is not to say the courts won't throw it out (as they should). But in a democracy, bills pass at the point at which there are votes to pass them (and not before). Someone who supports the bill (Obama, all but one Senate Democrat) should not be blamed for the actions of those who oppose the bill.

16. As usual. it went right over your head.
How about some of those so called leaders get off their asses and get the fucking votes. Bully pulpit, twisting arms, oh I forgot new Democrats don't do that.

18. Oh yeah. That's all Republicans needed. More persuasion.

:sarcasm:

Republicans don't give a rats ass about what the President thinks, and they certainly don't give a shit about what their constituents think. If anything, they care FAR more about losing a primary than losing a general.

8. It was voted on, multiple times by this congress and failed on votes along party lines.
Edited on Fri Dec-10-10 03:31 PM by bushisanidiot
The repukes are holding it up. Blaming anyone but THEM is absolutely wrong. Everyone knew where everyone stood on this issue. It was voted on. Repukes didn't budge. Yesterday 57 democrats/indepdants voted to repeal (no repukes crossed the aisle to join them) and 40 repukes (1 dem crossed the aisle) voted to repeal. 3 short of the super majority needed to pass. Obama advocated, readvocated, and readvocated for it's repeal. Everyone knew where he stood. But keep pretending that's he's an evil man who's been in cahoots with the repukes since day 1. If it makes you feel better.

control? Their going to pass it to win the favor of the Log Cabin Republicans of course. :sarcasm:

14. Put it in the tax bill
Put DADT repeal in the Welfare for millioniares Act--err, I mean, the tax cut/stimulus bill! No way the rethuglicans pass up a tax cut for any reason.

Obama could've extorted a whole slew of policy initiatives in his extension of the tax cuts. All we got was a stern lecture--from Obama!

17. That sucks
The Dems could have used the tax cut for millionaires bill as leverage at least. I think the Dems have gotten lazy or really just don't care about delivering on campaign promises anymore.
