If the President had been out making the same speech Bernie is making today we'd rule
If the President had been out on the stump for the last two weeks saying exactly the same things that Bernie Sanders has been saying on the Senate floor all day today there would never be another Republican elected to office in this country. I do not know what the President thinks it means to 'fight' for what is right but maybe if he has C-span in the White House he can tune in today and see what it looks like.

1. The press and bloggers would ignore it.
He has said very similar things already and that's what happens.

2. The President is never ignored - something Obama doesn't seem to have gloomed onto just yet

13. Anything progressive Obama says is ignored.
It's a very obvious pattern. How much coverage did Obama's many, many statements against the GOP tax cuts for the rich get compared to this compromise?

3.  BS. I am soo tired of that old canard. Clinton led a government shutdown
and they covered it. The problem isn't too little press for the WH , it is too much. They have Obvama's own words on tape. He is responsible for the words he utters and he is being held to them.

14. Some words are made headlines while others are ignored.
Noticing the pattern of what words are ignored is the most important step in realizing how we're being manipulated by the corporate press. Unfortunately, too many bloggers and pundits take their lead from the press instead of making their decisions about what to highlight.

15. True.
My advice to DUers is to always go to the source. Watch complete campaign speeches, townhalls and pressers live or on youtube - don't rely on the pundits' interpretation.

One good example is Obama's campaign promise of tax cuts for 95% of Americans (the original Obama middle class tax cuts).

He mentioned these dozens of times during his campaign in nearly every speech and then put them in the stimulus bill once in office...and yet most Americans have no idea that they exist.

6. We would rule! I hope he is watching , but
the trouble is, I think Obama is unable to see as he is currently hiding under his desk.

7. That's what frustrates and infuriates me
The Democrats in general (Obama in particular) don't seem to know of this thing called a "communication strategy." It's often used to promote and defend one's "agenda" (which they don't seem to know much about either) and can even be used to do something like "frame" or "re-define" how we understand the issues and what's at stake.

:banghead:

They almost always buy into the narrow, shallow parameters established by the Republicans and Big Bidness. To their credit, I guess they try their best to do what good they can within those parameters (and I'm not all that certain about that, frankly), but they're inevitably going to lose or disappoint their constituents because they're fighting according to the Right's framework/rules and not THEIR framework.

10. There's this thing called 'The Permanent Campaign". Since Clinton discovered it
and used it well, R's now use it. The concept is fairly simple. NEVER get out of campaign mode.
When I heard this past election the Obama was FINALLY going to get out and campaign and that 2 months of 'fight' were alloted to the effort, I knew these jokers were CLUELESS on how to run messaging.

9. Would Bernie run for President?
That would be a real hoot to see a self-proclaimed socialist running for President. Oh, the horror!
