Yes I'll be voting for Obama in 2012.
Am I disgusted with this tax deal? Beyond disgusted. Unhappy about other policy decisions? Yep. Do I enjoy holding my nose while voting? No.

But here's the thing: He'll be the only viable choice I have. And the Supreme Court and other issues where he's better than any repub are too important to me to not vote or vote for a third party candidate.

23. Which rules out Kucinich, Sanders, Feingold. That's reality and DU tends not to like reality.
The thought is that if somebody is an outstandingly great candidate then obviously all of America will rush to vote for them.

30. actually, Obama was considered a not-serious "DU fantasy" candidate
before the primaries, very few people thought he had a chance. surely you remember that.

42. Right. After watching his convention speech in '04 I thought he would be a contender.
He had an ability to inspire the masses and a charisma that any fantasy candidates lack today. I wouldn't put him in the same class as any of them. Besides, as a socialist Sanders would not have a snowball's chance in hell of ever being elected if he somehow got the nomination, which he will not.

8. Who? Unless you can name someone, it's moot.
I asked that question earlier this week, and just got yelled at. Nobody seems able to name anyone who has any possibility of winning even the nomination. Can you?

35. Yes, it does
I put away my campaign collectables and presidential portrait yesterday. I had both hanging on the wall above my computer as I had such hope for this guy.

I no longer have that hope for him or for the working class.

12. Likely me too
If Obama decides not to run, for whatever reason, obviously it would be pointless to write in Barack Obama.

If there is a primary challenge, perhaps I'll vote for someone else in the primary.

However, in the general, absolutely I will be voting for Barack Obama.

14. Don't forget to donate money! /sarcasm
I'll certainly vote for Obama - because there is no chance 1) he'd lose to a primary contender or 2) the Republicans could come with someone who wasn't totally repugnant.

I *know* the futility of trying to "send a message" by voting 3rd party (or not voting) - it will result in Republicans winning, and even if it's by a single vote, they'll have a "mandate" to double military spending, eliminate taxes on the wealthy and declare war on Iran...

So, I'll be voting for Obama... just... don't ask me for ONE FUCKING DIME!

You have my vote - THAT'S IT.

24. Second. The question is do we want something, or nothing.
With 2-3 Supreme Court chairs opening up during the next six years and the republican party lurching ever more rightward, can democrats REALLY afford to teach Obama a lesson? Well, maybe those that enjoy protesting in streets, chaining themselves to fences and getting hauled off to jail. Folks, if we screw up the 2012 vote, we are in for some unbelievably dark years.

37. I find it interesting that, after the Public Option, DADT, Gitmo, DEA raids on cancer grannies
this is the thing that makes everyone- including the house democratic caucus- come completely unglued.

I think it's trading a somewhat shitty deal for some clearly necessary stuff, like an extension of unemployment. It's not great, but it's not the worst thing he's done.

38. No reason to worry. I'm told a minority party can block the opposition from doing anything anyway.
I mean, I figure all we really need is enough Democrats in the Senate to threaten a fillibuster, and it wouldn't matter if you had Sarah Palin and Adolph Hitler in the White House. Right?

44. If another Democrat runs, I may have to give that one some consideration.
The ideals I have fought for so many years are not apparent in the current administration. I know there will be a lot of pressure and anger directed at any Democrat that does not tow the line and scorn for any Democrat that throws her or his hat into the race. However, if progressive ideas are to survive all this, those ideas need to be expressed in some manner. I see few pathways currently.
