teacher suffered miscarriage breaking up classroom fight
Two students were fighting over a chair and she got elbowed in the stomach.

"A student arrived five minutes late, walked up to another student who was already seated and told him to get out of his desk, students said.

When the seated student refused, the conflict escalated and the teacher tried to intervene. She was accidentally elbowed in the stomach and fell to the ground, crying."

2. Yes, folks, this is the current state of our schools. So sad.
Teachers deserve hazard pay today.

6. More accurately,
this is the current state of behavior for some children--not really the fault of the school in most cases.

3. This is the worst, but there were 3 incidents that day. Our friend left her job teaching in NYC
after a very serious assault by a 17 year old nearly twice her size.... She's a super person, but she'll never go back... she's moved on but she's not forgotten.

I don't know how the hell kids learn under these circumstances. Well, they don't actually... what they learn is to watch their backs.

4. You never know what some people have to go through to attain a pregnancy
I dearly hope this teacher's pain is not complicated further by additional issues.

7. And it wouldn't surprise me a bit if the parents
Edited on Sat Dec-11-10 07:03 AM by Le Taz Hot
of both boys' parents sued the school district and the teacher for picking on their perfect little darlings who never EVER do anything wrong. I'm not kidding on this. You couldn't PAY me enough to teach again because of that problem. The parents don't back you and the administration (because their terrified of lawsuits) don't back you.

Edited for clarity.

8. Someone will come along soon and say something to the effect that
the frontal lobes of those miscreants are not fully developed and they cannot be held accountable, or that they are just kids and have the exuberance of youth, or something.

Their unrestrained inappropriate behavior is directly responsible for the teacher's loss, and they should indeed be held accountable.
