Are you upset about the tax cut? With two years remaining on them, look at your options at this point:

1. You can join an effort to primary Obama in 2012. We're about three to six months away from when the field of candidates is pretty much set. I would say that you have two things working against you: Obama's high approval rating amongst liberals and lower ratings amongst moderates and independants, and the history of primary efforts leading to Republican victories. If that is OK with you, please list any Republican candidates which are likely to let the Bush* tax cuts expire.

2. You can join in efforts to elect more Democratic members of congress to let the Bush* tax cuts expire.

Not very many people spend much time thinking about politics, or putting them into action. Activism is a scarce resource. If you are dissatisfied with what you have, you may find it more satisfying in the long term to put it toward getting what you want rather than putting it toward what you feel like doing.

I think there's more of a chance that a third party candidate (already well-known and funded) will grab the populist message and draw votes from disenchanted voters across the political spectrum.

For those not completely immersed in apathy, fighting against, rather than fighting for and working toward something better, seems to be the norm.

Putting energy and effort TOWARD what we want, rather than keeping our energy and focus mired in the reality of what we have that we DON'T want, seems to be a much more effective way to be in this world.

But that's just the way I see things and always have, having grown up around people who did nothing but whine and remain complacent about the way "things are."

I'm starting to think I'm the one who is crazy, since so few seem to want to do anything beyond pay lip service to the idea of coming together to work toward something better in any meaningful way.
