30 Ways to Reduce Your Risk of Heart Attack or Stroke
http://www.rd.com/living-healthy/30-ways-to-reduce-your-risk-of-heart-disease-and-stroke/article16062.html

Cuz I want each and every one of you fine progressives to live a long and healthy life, voting for a sane America.

(N.B., trolling freepers: you can live to a ripe old age and continue voting against the best interests of the American people by eating a steady diet of deep-fried bacon and Snickers pies. You get all the exercise you need by nodding along when Glenn Beck speaks. The way he constantly tries to encourage you to commit acts of terrorism against your fellow Americans will lower your blood pressure. Really.)

13. Because there is nothing to prove that they will ensure a long life?
I lost an uncle Dec. 1st who lived the healthy life style and bragged about how healthy he was at 68. He went in for a routine heart stress test on the 1st, half way through the doctor stopped the test an hour later uncle Ed had a major heart attack and passed away. What makes people think they have control over how long they will live or that they can do anything to help give them more time then they have? I'm not trying to be a smart ass, I'm just dealing with reality, life happens no matter what I want or do, I just go with whatever life throws at me and do my best to survive life.

Btw, I also had a neighbor that smoked drank like a fish ate fatty foods who lived to be 99 years old. I kind of miss the old guys stories about WWI and the french girls he met on R&R.

14. Yeah, but 3 mentions of vitamins
so I guess you can smoke like a chimney and avoid heart disease if you eat vitamins.

NOT.

I saw people of all body types and all sorts of eating habits in cardiac wards. I saw very few people who had never smoked. Yes, if your genetic load says you're going to develop heart disease, you will no matter what. However, smoking hurries that process along by decades.

22. There's an admonition not to smoke (for the second time already!)
27. Pay attention to the basics. Two major studies published in the summer of 2003 found that nearly everyone who dies of heart disease, including heart attacks, had at least one or more of the conventional risk factors, such as smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol levels.

and nobody's given me a reason to tune back in.

If there's something that's a must-see, You Tube will have it.

20. I am right there with you.
I simply cannot take the political talk shows and quit watching them during the 2008 campaign. I do enjoy C-Span from time to time and listen to NPR on the commute each day, but other than that I get my news from the net.

But seriously, thanks for posting that. As someone who had a minor stroke 6 years ago and has just been told I've got high cholestorol, I really am going to take on board and use as many of those 30 suggestions that I can. Thanks for posting it...

Washing it down with beer is not recommended unless you're under 15.
