10. Thanks. I see it now.
So interesting!

In my area, there are two new housing developments going up with houses 3,000-5,000 square feet. Arghh!!! And they will likely be inhabited by a family of four. A previous boss of mine lives in a 10,000 square foot house with her husband & small dog. Several years ago she told me it cost them $800 a month to heat the place. What a waste.

13. Wow! Where are they?
I ask because we're in Lakewood so I'm being nosey.

Hubby and I are still in our "starter house". It was built after WW2 and has ceilings that aren't quite 8'. The people who built it had been farmers and were quite short so 7"6" suited them fine. I swear but our heating and cooling bills are on the low side because of this design.

I could go on but the bottom line is that it's just us two and I've learned to temper my pack rat ways in this modest square footage. It's been good since we've been able to save and do extraordinary things with the place that we wouldn't have been able to do if we kept moving up in house size.

"Bloom where you're planted" has been our motto, too, I guess.

6. Oh my gosh.
The egg house actually looks cozy in that night picture. And the rolling adobe is just amazing!

Many of these make me sad, though. People are looking into this stuff because they can't afford real housing anymore.

I can't believe that house in Toronto is $180,000.00.

Thank you for posting this.

8. Those are wonderful.
I always identified with hobbits. Some of these reminded me of "Little House on the Prairie," too.

11. Leave hillsides to native flora and fauna.
They are running out of space as well.

4. So Ted Kacyinski style cabins will be all the rage
and coming to your sidewalks and parking lots in the future. Personally, I could live in one. I lived in something smaller on wheels for ten years while my DH and I explored the country.
