Again, I want to thank everyone who gave me advice, it was very helpful!
We did not sell alot. This fair was in the $4-$25 range (candles, bags, frou frou). Our stuff starts at $40 and goes up to $175. But we got a lot of compliments, some requests for custom work, invitations from these consignment people who have shops and will sell our stuff and take a %. We also got several invitations to come to juried shows.
One of the things we were showing were slates with renderings of historic buildings in Harrisville NH. The response to that was amazing. This is one of the areas where we got orders for custom work, ie. a woman who wanted us to do a rendering of the historic church she was married in as a anniversary gift for her husband. I loved that request. The thing that was interesting about the renderings was that men loved them.
Even though we didn't sell much (as you warned me might be the case) we learned a great deal about how these things work, how to set the exhibit up and what other people are doing. We now have some focus, know what questions to ask and the venues to look for. Most of all, it was great fun and good experience!
PS. Nobody said "I could paint this myself" which I took to be a good sign for us!
