Here's a blanket I designed myself using afghan crochet hook

It started out as a way to use scrap yarn, and just kept growing. It's so WARM it's amazing.

It looks like you pasted the wrong code which is why there is extra text next to your pictures. I think there are three choices under the photo. Use the one that says, "URL Link" (no brackets) instead. But the photos look great! And what a cute dog! :hi:

It's really easy to do. I'm planning on picking two colours and making one for my brother for Xmas.

4. Do you have an afghan hook?

This was easy to do and portable, because it was done in strips. It's basically chain 61, pick up the stitches on the hook, and away you go! I used approximately 5 skeins in each strip, and worked 225 rows for each. I then did 2 rows of single stitches around each strip, and sewed the strips together as they were completed. Did the same around the entire piece, ending with a backwards single for the rolled edge effect.

I can't see it up close but is this the Tunisian Crochet where you put all the stitches on the hook and then work them off?

I love the Afghan Stitch crochet. It's hard to put down and so relaxing, especially when you're working the stitches off the hook. It looks large enough to really cuddle into with plenty of room for doggy, too. You did good.

6. Yup -- it's tunisian crochet.

It's very relaxing.

I've shined up that hook enough to have it glow in the dark! :rofl: I also did an earlier bedspread for my son, using bright colors on smaller patches, with black as the fill. I'll have to take a snap of that to post. He's done his best to beat the heck out of it, but it still looks good. You can also do cross stitch on the panels. I made a christmas one from an old Family Circle pattern from the 70's, and it is still in good shape. I've lost the patern, but have enough close up photos to try to re-create the original. It's a beautiful throw.

7. Your afghan with the black fill must be striking

Black really sets off the brights. I'd like to see your Christmas one.

I think it's a fascinating kind of crochet. My aunt taught me the stitch and has a passion for it. She'd put different colored skeins in plastic pitchers on the floor in front of her and then work different patterns into the afghan. I remember one that had autumn leaves crocheted into the border.

I used to have this great book of different kinds of tunisian stitches. You can even make the work look like knit, purl and others. So I made a sampler afghan of strips using a different stitch for each strip. It's over 30 years old and has gotten kind of fuzzy from washings. But tunisian really holds up.

The hook glows in the dark! I can understand that. Just one more row, one more row, one more row.
