Anybody know antique knitting abbreviations?
I'm stumped on a pattern I really love and can't even begin to guess what W1 (or possibly lower case L, it's hard to tell from the font) means. Google has -not- been my friend on this one.

3. It could be a lower case L
As in wool forward. In my 1970 Mon-Tricot book, wool is abbreviated as "wl". Just a suggestion :)

4. That could be it.
It's written in a sans-serif font so it's really hard to tell.

5. I think it's a yarn over.
Wool forward or wrap one forward would both work out as a yarn over. Does that make sense with the pattern?
