simple and quick make-it-yourself shuttle for tatting (a kind of lacemaking)

all you need is

*a plastic lid (or similar thin stiff starting material)
*scissors
*paper hole-punch
*sharp knife for trimming rough edges (personally I'd rather use the scissors & a nail file)
*glue - optional, to glue layers together for a thicker shuttle

1. My grandmother used to tat
she was going to show me but we never got around to it. I'd still like to learn though.

2. My grandmother did, too. Apparently it was pretty popular 90-100 years ago.

3. Tatting is probably one of the most tedious, time-consuming
of all yarn/thread crafts, but it yields lovely results. Good to know it hasn't been lost entirely.

I haven't tatted in years and probably have just about forgotten how. I still have lots of pattern books and thread and at least two or three shuttles.

TG, who does NOT need any more hobbies!
