Any other scooterists here?
I recently returned to the world of two wheels when I purchased a scoot online and have enjoyed the heck out of it. Great storage, no probs with highway speeds and the mileage is phenomenal.

I hadn't been on a bike for over 30 years and now am considering going to a larger vehicle when the economy gets back to normal. But, the new 500cc Suzuki scoot looks great as well.

1. Upgraded this year from a Honda Reflex
LOVED my Reflex but upgraded to a Yamaha Silverado 650 in April. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

The Scoot was great but the bike is 100 times better. And the full saddle bags give me twice the storage.

2. Sweet motorcycle!
I'm to the point of understanding how one would want the increase in power.

my scooter now. I've thought of moving up to a Majesty or a TMAX, but the 50cc really works well for me. I like pulling over and taking photographs, and the Zuma handles beautifully offroad (plus I like getting almost 100 miles per gallon). I'll probably be picking up a performance exhaust for it, to up the top end speed a bit, and possibly a 70cc kit, to give myself a little more torque, but that's about it. That's not some spur-of-the-moment decision, it's a 2003 Zuma heheh.

Here's mine, next to a fish done in by HAB (harmful algae bloom/red tide) on the beach at Padre Island National Seashore:

4. Yamaha C3 here - love it
mileage around 120 mpg. Good cargo space for quick trips to the store or the Y.

Just a lot of fun.

Rarely does my 8-year old Granddaughter come over when she not ask for a "scoot ride". We take off for 3-4 miles around the neighborhood.

Harley for longer Sunday afternoon rides. But . . . during the week and need to go to the store, out comes the scoot.

5. I'm a bit different, if I don't put 50-100 miles in in an average day, I feel like I'm
slacking :)

6. I have a Sportster for those longer rides - but just for running 2 milles to the store for a gallon
of milk - or to the Y 3 miles away -hard to beat the scoot.

9. I wouldn't mind having one of those.
They seem really practical for short trips around the neighborhood. Lots of built-in storage too.

7. Moved recently from a Honda Reflex to a Shadow 600.
Plan to store the Reflex over the winter and sell it in the Spring. I love the automatic trans and have had great fun with it but it was time for me to move to a regular motorcycle. On a scooter you can't fantasize about being Fonzie or Jim Bronson or Johnny Strabler or (now) even Matcom.

8. Once a month the South Bay Scooter club meets and has a run
from Torrance Crossroads. They get a good handful of scooters, a lot of the Italian ones.
Sometimes I am bicycling past their meetup spot, so I stop and talk about 2 wheels.

11. I got me a Suzuki Burgman 400 3 years ago, it will do 90+
and averages around 65 mpg. I am 61 years old now and hadn't rode a bike for over 40 years. You didn't say what your ride is? I wasn't aware Suzuki had a new 500 cc scooter, I will have to check it out. If I would go to a bigger bike I would go for the Burgman 650 or the Honda Silver Wing
I like the storage space on a scooter and I don't feel I need to shift gears after all how many people actually drive a stick in their car anymore.

12. if the 400 will do 90+, why would you ever need a 650
I guess to carry passengers. But any reason other than that?

I have a Harley, but I think my wife would enjoy a 400 - and have been somewhat seeking one.

I also have a Yamaha scooter which I love to ride.

13. The 400 is a single cylinder and at
60MPH the RPMs are around 6k. The 650 is twin cylinder, has much better acceleration and runs at much lower RPMs. I saw a video on youtube of a 650 doing 108 MPH. Another nice thing about the 650 the transmission works fully automatic or you can shift manually by just tapping up or down on a lever.

14. Got a Genuine Buddy 125cc in Feb of this year as a "second vehicle"
Takes me to and from work, up and down the hills no problem. It's probably saved us over $300 in gas prices alone so far this year; I'm already at 2500 miles.

15. I commute 3 hours a day on a 50cc moped.
And today was the first day I froze my ass off for the whole hour and a half, 35-mile ride there.

Six months to go, then it will start getting warmer again.

17. I finally gave up.

It wasn't the cold that did me in, though it certainly plays a part. It was this crappy other scooter I have. The throttle stuck open on it and before I knew it I was rolling through someone's yard. I literally rode away from it seconds later, but it got to me, and I eventually lost my nerve. I started having nightmares and finding any excuse not to make the ride, and had a short temper and was generally being a jerk about the whole thing. So I joined a carpool.

I still drop my girlfriend off at work on the good scoot every day, and then ride across town to the guy with whom I now carpool in warmth, safety, and comfort. That twenty minutes each sub-freezing morning is definitely the hardest thing I have to do every day, and thanks to all those countless freezing hours last winter, I can do it standing on my head. So it wasn't for nothing.

Edit: I should add that the "good" bike is a 2007 Hyosung SF50. I've racked up nearly 25,000 km with virtually no mechanical problems, except that it eventually clogged the ports shut and needed cleaning out.

18. 500 cc's qualifies as a scooter?
But I love my Yamaha C3. Great gas mileage - lots of storage - quick. Lot of fun!
