Okay, got my headlight modulator from JC Whitney and installed it.
It has a SPST switch wired in parallel to turn it off. Went inside the headlight nacelle and cut the high beam hot wire, spliced into it and ran the wires back to a place under the gas tank. In operation it oscillates the light from 11% power to 100% power ten times/second. Only thing is that the Hyosung has an LED tail light and it also oscillates brightness. There is no connection between the headlamp and the tail lamp so it must just be the voltage flux that effects the tail light. No effect on the brake light, only the normal operation of the tail light.

It's not as distracting as I had thought, but it should get some attention. Hopefully the tail light isn't some kind of violation.

IDemo, if you are interested, I'll send photos of the installation. The defeat switch and modulator is located behind the tri-angular trim piece on the left side, opposite the radiator cap.

Total cost was about $50.

1. Sounds like it might be worth taking a look at

You may want to post pics and a how-to over at Alternative Cruisers and/or korider.com, the two major Hyosung forums.

I'm still trying to get rid of the infernal backfiring problem (which many on the 'ko' board feel I should be proud of??). The latest advice from the AC board: adjust the pilot (idle) screw for a richer mix. That sounds backwards to me; I would think a richer fuel mix would go uncombusted and ignite downstream in the pipe, but these guys know more than I do about it. Or so I hope..

Be happy you've got fuel injection!

2. I'm carburated, not FI. Texas doesn't require emissions tests on
motorcycles, we're still in the wild west mode here, so I haven't noticed any backfire issues.

I'll do as you suggest and post a how-to here and at the other sites.
