This is what the JC Whitney modulator looks like:
and here's the Radio Shack switch I chose:
The switch is a single pole single throw (simple on/off) with an LED indicator. I chose not to use the LED so there's an empty connector in the installation.
I used 18 gage wire to make this harness:
I used color coding to make sure I didn't reverse the wiring on the modulator. That fries the unit.
Here's what the whole unit looks like before installing on the bike:
Inside the headlight nacelle find the high beam wire and cut it; it's the yellow one.
Feed the new harness into the headlight housing and splice it into the high beam circuit.
Finally, just tuck the modulator into the opening behind the trim piece and re-install the trim. Pretty neat installation if I do say so myself.
