Need advice on a lightweight jacket.
Here in Texas it gets to 100 degrees in the summer. I'd like to find a suitable jacket to offer some protection from road rash but that wouldn't suffocate me in July. Any advice?

1. I have the Hein Gericke Timbuktu "Air" jacket

I got a good deal on it, has zip-out liner and what-not for when it's colder. But I've worn it on pretty technical stuff where I was sweating up a storm, and was comfy.

The only thing I'd fix on it is a strap on the elbows to keep the CE armor there a little tighter to my arms.

Edited to add: has a pocket designed for a water bladder, but it's small.

2. Here's a company that makes vented mesh shirts and pants that can be worn under your street clothes

The shirts look pretty light.

I have a Tourmaster Intake Jacket that is nothing but mesh once you take out the liner but it's still pretty warm in the summer.

3. That's what I'm talking about! Now to see if I can find one locally for
a fitting check.

Thanks!

4. I wear a Joe Rocket mesh jacket in the summer
It's a nylon mesh with removable liner, and some foam armor in the back, shoulders and elbows.

I've worn it on several 100 degree plus rides, and it's been good.

5. Thanks, I'll check out the JR line for something light. I've
seen some good reviews on their stuff.

6. the one I have is pretty nondescript, but it does the job well
With the liner in it, it's usable into about the high 50s. Without the liner, it's good up to about any temperature you're willing to ride in.
