Awww SHIT!
I fell down. No, not crashed and not dropped. I just fell down. I stopped for gas and when I got to the first stop light I put both feet down and my right foot just slipped away and the bike went with me. Dinked up the gas tank and embarrassed the hell out of me but no major damage or injury.

But I gotta say that a 500 pound bike is a real grunt to put back on it's wheels.

1. Can you fix the tank, or does it need professional help?
I sympathize. I was riding with a friend (way back in the 60's) when his bell-bottomed pant leg blew over the kick-starter (yes, bikes used to have those things). When we stopped at the light, he couldn't put his foot down, so yes, an embarassing (and costly) moment. Then there was the time I got distracted, stopped in a friend's driveway, said "hi", got off the bike, walked toward the beer, and forgot to put the kickstand down. oops. Fortunately, my bike had crash bars, so no damage other than to the ego.

Good thing you don't have a 800 lb Road King or something. You might have needed help to upright the thing. That would have been even worse.

Anyway, sounds like you didn't get hurt.

:hi:

2. No injuries, just the humiliation of having the other traffic ask if I were
okay. I'll take the tank to a hail repair place and see if they can dink it out for me. It needed to be re-painted anyway 'cause the previous owner had it fall in the garage and re-painted it himself. Has orange peal and some fisheyes in the finish plus some pretty poor finish work from the factory. The Korean bikes aren't known for the fine detail work but they run like a screaming banshee.

3. I shouldn't even admit this, but...
6 or 7 years ago, My Roadstar fell on me because I forgot to put the kickstand down!

Fortunately, a friend was with me to get if off of my leg. No damage, thankfully.

You can get a bike like that upright again by using the front brake and leveraging the bars. The Roadie is a little over 700 lbs.

4. I stopped once for a fellow biker who hit a deer
Long story, he came out of it OK after a hospital stay, but he hit the deer coming the other way right in front of me.

Anyhoo, I pulled over and hopped off the bike and ran to him with my cell out, calling dispatch (it was on my speed dial at the time).

After the ambulance came, I looked around for my bike and didn't see it. It was upside down in the ditch, since I hopped off and never actually put the kickstand down. :D

5. Hey, at least you didn't drop it in the parking lot the first time you rode it
Don't know who would be so stupid as to do that. :yoiks:
