American Chopper Cancelled
Wes Siler. February 08, 2010

The good name of American motorcycling will no longer be sullied by the Teutels' homoerotic father/son catfighting and novelty t-shirt promotion, TLC has cancelled American Chopper. Orange County Choppers and its shaved apes have been plaguing television screens since 2003, but lately the financial success the show inexplicably brought its protagonists has led to a bitter feud with Paul Teutul Sr suing Paul Teutul Jr for control of the company. It's believed that this lawsuit led to the show's cancellation. Hallelujah.

1. Hallelujah is right. I could never watch that show based on
the pathetically stupid relationships amongst all the people, but father and son? And the constant foul language?
No thanks.
Those ridiculous bikes never run anyway. Far too many one off parts to go wrong in 10 miles.
They were show pieces only, and they showed me nothing.
I think the thing of motorcycling, is the riding of it. Not trailering. Not tattoos, just riding.
To me those are the people who give motorcycles a bad name.
There are many many gentlemen motorcyclists in the world. And we all have a common brotherly bond ... riding (and maintaining) the motorcycles.

2. When they first started out it was fine.
Then they started doing all the theme bikes and corporate bikes and it went down hill fast. I think they lost me when they did the bike for the Air Force and put the little wings on it with the fake missiles. :banghead:

And of course there was the whole soap opera of the family's relationship. I think TLC dropped them because they sensed it might be about to turn violent or suicidal or both.

I much prefer clean simple functional bikes with classic looks.

3. It did seem cool at the outset, but....
After a while, every show was basically the same.

4. It used to be mostly about building choppers
with some mindless destruction and family dysfunction thrown in for comic relief.

Now it's mostly about nonsense, and if they build a bike, who notices?

A while back, a young lady did a nice paint job on an "old-school" bike.

5. I heard from someone who knows them that Mikey is the real brains of the family..
After I thought about it for a little while I realized it made sense.

And yeah, they were entertaining for a while but it got really old..
