A recomendation from a non-rider.... |

...at the moment. June-Laconia NH-worlds oldest bike rally. And one of the big 4. You should because of the 200k bikes that will appear. But the rally itself is just the cherry on top. It's a beautiful time of the year in my adopted state...you can run from the boardwalk at Hampton Beach to the seclusion of the mountains in about 90 minutes. Our big lake (Winnepesaukee) is an 80 mile circuit of unbelievable beauty. Mt Washington is the highest peak in New England and the view is super-one day during bike week they close the road to automobiles and make it MC only. The Kankamagus Highway runs 40 miles thru pristine mountains with NO developement (White Mountains National Forest) and has been listed as one of the US top ten scenic rides.
...For real fun come just the last day or two-Picture an entire tourist state just poised to open for the high season-for the past week every car has become aware of bikers and now that they've left everyone is bike aware and traffic is low-the week AFTER bike week is the years best riding! So you'll get a taste of the rally and then some fine and scenic time without the crowds or noise.
...It was always wonderful for me and I recommend it to you.If you need to book rooms, then book soon for the week but if you camp out accomadations will be easily available and way cheaper the Monday after.
...I hope you come and I hope your visit is as great as some of those that helped convince me to move here.

one for massive biker jams. I have also been around the New England areas and know about the beauty and all. But I still think the best times are the least crowded times, the off week days or week ends when the areas are wide open. Like Sturgis, when the biker week IS NOT there. dc
