Yosemite National Park in April
Well the dates have now been set for the convention of motorcycle enthusiasts just south of Yosemite for April.
I will be in attendance and will also spend 2 nights in the park for the purpose of hiking to the top of Yosemite Falls, and over to Lost Arrow Spire, where I hope to take the Tyrolean traverse to the top of the spire.
We will also be doing some riding around the area like I did on two visits to the park last year.
I hope to see the frazil ice, as shown by the video on this site and others which may occur in April.
This will be the 4th annual convention, and my first there, tho' I was there on other dates last year.

1. Well, I leave Wednesday. Chains are now required on 41,
so I hope that is gone by Friday at least. Chains don't go on motorcycle tires.
The temperature there today was 17 degrees. That probably means frazil ice. And there is plenty of water for the falls.
So I will see what things are like on Thursday. Friday, I hope to rent a bicycle and ride around the valley.

2. Chain restrictions were off Monday. Thursday morning it was 25
degrees in the park, and 38 at El Portal. I got into the park about 10 a.m. and it had got up to 42. And when I left the park in the late afternoon, it was 55.
41 was open on Friday for the drive south to Oakhurst, and about 5 feet of snow at the cut off to Glacier Point road (which is closed til May or so).
The only animals I saw were squirrels and one wolf, or I thought it was a wolf but the ranger lady said it was a coyote. The only coyotes I ever saw were small and scrawny. This was big and healthy looking, well fed. He looked big and healthy like a sled dog.
Anyway, it was well worth the visit and the ride up, which, 34 degrees at the grapevine? That was cold on the bike.
Bridal Veil Falls above.
