Interesting group. Just discovered this forum and reviewed mission.

Was a bit disappointed that there is not much discussion here. Our country certainly needs a socialist perspective, even if it requires us to participate in the two party system. While socialists have not been very successful at electing candidates through the years, we have helped to shape the direction of policies which have been co-opted by other parties, particularly the Democrats. Hopefully this forum can advance some policy positions. I am glad to have found this forum and look forward to visiting often.

1. I hear you, Freida5. Anytime you want to talk up

some Socialist themes, I will gladly join in. You are right that there isn't much discussion here, but I wonder if the interest would increase if some of us would get something started. If there has been any lasting imprint of positive social legislation, it is the legislation championed by FDR and the New Deal. Despite all the negativity from the right wing media attacking the very mention of Socialism, social security has weathered all the storms. Why? Because it was the right thing to do. The legislation was right. It's been mishandled, but the system itself was sound and logical.

Start a thread offering some constructive action, an achievable goal to work for, and we'll see what results.
