Anti-Abortion Measures on November Ballots in CA, CO, and SD

1. I can't even begin...

..to express the rage I feel at having to vote on this shit....again--a third time (regarding the parental notification legislation). Don't get me started on the "freedom for the fetus" initiative (as I think of it).

I'll have to return later when I can compose my thoughts better, but honestly seeing these anti-woman things on my ballot....:puke::grr::mad::cry:

What's worse? Knowing there's an entire faction of women in certain California counties that just vote "whatever their husband's tell them to." Yes--in this day and age, and no, I'm not kidding.

2. Yeah, I wanted to go off on an entire rant

But it wouldn't be enough. Why, WHY does anyone sane think these are sane, moral, or healthy? It's incredibly sick and ugly, and all the psychology I've ever read or classes I've taken doesn't completely explain it. It's a societal sickness, a bizarre twist of what people want to consider "values". These initiatives are as anti-life as you can get, and the sponsors don't SEE that? Or is it that the larger, horrifically damaging consequences of these initiatives don't matter to people? I'd say that some people see the world out of the open end of a opaque bottle, but there is something, and excuse the archaic term, evil about this type of thinking. A total, pathological self-centeredness that disturbs me to my deepest level.

Woman voting what their husband tell them. You know that is a slap in the face, a deadly insult to every woman who suffered not simply for human rights, but to be acknowledged as fully human. Another example of the same brand of pathological self centeredness. Although to be fair, it's possible it's deep conditioning or fear.

3. Evil...

...it's so interesting you used this term. By coinincidence, I found this recently and held onto it. Not for the doctor, but the information provided (thought it was an interesting read). I read the Road Less Traveled and recall the assertions about evil.

As far as the women voting what their husband's tell them...:eyes: I wish I could say it's an isolated incident, but I've seen and heard too many instances of surburban housewives that seem to not think of themselves as individual of their husbands (or their fathers, families of origin, etc). Seems potentially dangerous, imo.

I'd like to believe there is a back-lash on the horizon.
Kind of like in the 60's when 50's wives and mothers found themselves w/nothing--the kids grew up and got lives of their own, their husbands died or divorced them (or whatever else). They woke up and had a revolution. Not sure if we can hope for such a thing now--so many seem to take so much for granted. :(

5. It's all good

(Or bad, pardon the pun) Evil is a useful word that carries a lot of baggage. To me, it's about how people act and how they feel about those actions, rather than some sort of outside force moving events. When people force an agenda, or a series of agendas, that cause harm, and the harm it will cause is very clear, but they push them foreword anyway, ESPECIALLY with some disgusting "moral" or "pro-life" justification, Well, evil fits.
