Exciting news. This is a rugged area of wild vegetation, it seems. I'm trying to pinpoint the location. There is new Google Earth imagery in that area, albeit only in some locations, like around Cuzco. It is west of Quillabamba (-12.88, -72.7), around Vista Alegre - Lat-Long: -13.04, -73.25. This is the Machu Picchu latitude (-13.164, -72.546).

1. I found a short article I ran through google Spanish translation:

An archaeological fortress called Cripple Pata, was discovered in the district of Kimbiri, part of Valle del Rio Apurimac and Ene (VRAE), generating awe among the villagers, informed the mayor, Guillermo Torres. According detailed, the site is located in the rural community of Union Vista Alegre, the town of Tahuantinsuyo Lobo and has an area of 40000 square meters, which is still covered by a thick jungle vegetation virgen.Tras a communal slaughter cleaning, last December 29 was found enigmatic and impressive structures on the basis of perfectly carved stones that are part of huge walls and paredes.Ante the observed features, the burgomaster not ruled out the possibility that this archaeological complex is part of the legendary lost city of Paititi, regarded by investigators as the enigma archaeological Sudamérica.Según local legends, it would be a city of Paititi stone with golden statues erected in broad jardines.Torres anticipated that the area will be declared immediately as "Cultural heritage, intangible and ecotourism reserve district of Kimbiri and VRAE ", and will be promoted and coordinated at the local tourist circuit, VRAE and Cusco.Por its part, the director of the Sub Regional Office Kimbiri, Carlos Mallqui, indicated that previously reported the fact to the regional president Cusqueño Hugo Gonzales Sayan and the counselor Carlos Dargent Holgado.Comentó that there is a commitment to these authorities to dispatch a technical team from the National Institute of Culture (INC) in order to proceed with the investigations.

cleared the area.

This is something George W. Bush could really throw himself into, maybe.

Could be they'd prefer he stays away, however. It's important, don't want to screw it up.

Once again, the beautifully formed blocks you see all over the ancient sites in Peru. The citizens must feel so thrilled being part of such a great historical discovery.

It sounds very big, doesn't it?
