Corporations using Patriot Act to track down delinquencies
This may have been posted somewhere on DU before, but I cam across this June 13 article just today.
Creepy stuff.

I stumbled on this accidentally, have given the lead to a couple of major Newspapers, but so far haven’t heard anything back yet. I’m a commentator, not an investigative reporter, but even I can tell if it’s newsworthy or not by the stench of our burning civil liberties. The putrid smell of a democracy in decline is becoming overwhelming as it creeps into every segment of our lives – and yesterday it hit home in the oddest of ways…

1. It's outrageous, and 7 years ago I would have been shocked.

2. Amazing how it never ends, isn't it? However, while they can
trace you in such a manner using the PATRIOT (has there ever been a greater misnomer applied to legislation in the history of man?) Act, collectors still cannot call relatives or neighbors demanding info on a debtor. That still remains illegal under the Fair Debt Collection Act. The problem is that most people don't know this, are intimidated by the collectrolls (that's what I call them, because they're the scum of the earth, especially the medical ones), and think that they HAVE to give out information. NO, they do NOT. Do NOT let them get away with it.
