Ebay's lowering their listing fees . . . finally!
Something finally got through to ebay and they're lowering their listing fees and making the gallery free. They'll be going up a little on the commission fee, but things aren't exactly selling like hotcakes so I imagine it will be a net savings for most sellers.

1. veddy interesting, thank you
Now if they would just siphon off the megasellers of pirated items into another area, it might get interesting again.

3. They're also making changes to feedback

What changes are being made to the eBay Feedback system?

There are five key elements to the new Feedback system being introduced in the first half of 2008:

1. Beginning in February, buyers and sellers will be able to earn up to one Feedback per week from the same trading partner. Today, members may only affect each other's Feedback scores one time, regardless of the number of transactions between the parties. This change will both encourage repeat transactions and reward good service.
2. Sellers will no longer be able to leave negative or neutral Feedback for buyers. This change will occur in May, 2008.
3. Removal of negative and neutral Feedback left by members who are suspended or who fail to respond to the Unpaid Item Process (UPI).
4. Positive Feedback percentage will be based on the past 12 months of Feedback, rather than lifetime, since it is most indicative of the seller's recent performance.
5. Restrictions on when Feedback can be left:
* Buyers must wait three days before leaving negative or neutral Feedback for sellers with an established track record
* Instead of 90 days, members will be able to leave Feedback for 60 days

4. I don't care for the feedback changes, overall.
"Sellers will no longer be able to leave negative or neutral Feedback for buyers." ??? What's the point, then, of warning other sellers of flakey buyers? I don't leave negatives often, but when I have, it's been justified.

I also don't like the new feedback requirements for PowerSellers - the need to maintain a 4.5 average in each of the detailed ratings. The "Shipping and Handling Fees" one will kick most everyone out of the PowerSeller category, because nobody ever thinks shipping fees are fair - myself included, when I buy, even though I know from the flipside that there are legitimate packing material costs involved. I never liked the detailed ratings, because it encourages people to be picky and find fault, but this is a little absurd.

5. how can we warn about nonpaying bidders, if no neg fb for buyers?
that really doesn't make sense.
