If eBay changes its seller policy for feedback...
....will you go back to sell there?

I saw something about that on the Times of London today. Just a line in an article about the libel suit filed by a seller re: negative feedback.

I might consider selling again if they shape up. I miss eBay a lot.

1. I read that article, too. I'm still selling there - just put on a few things.
The whole ebay policy is unfair. I put something on a few days ago and a guy emailed because he wanted to bid on it, but I had my preferances set so it wouldn't allow anyone with negative feedback to bid and he had a couple of things from 2 years ago. It seems this guy - who gave me a long story about what happened back then - shouldn't be penalized for negative feedback if current buyers can't even get negatives. It still pisses me off royally, but I still manage to sell things so I'm hanging in there. As for the British case, I don't think the seller has a leg to stand on, but that's the unfairness of the system. They should either chuck the whole feedback system (because it's essentially worthless now) or go back to the old one.

2. There's a backdoor
for sellers for leaving bad feedback for bad buyers where appropriate. Use the the postive feedback link and do it there !

I picked up on that in the actual narrative of a seller's listing where he threatened to do that if a buyer left wholly unfair and unwarranted bad feedback for him. Given that I know personally how good the seller I'm sure he would definately only do so where appropriate.

Once upon a time there was as seller in the UK who was notorious for leaving bad feedback within the narrative of whatever he sold next !

3. They now list that as a viable reason for them to remove the feedback.
But of course the person would have to complain first.

The one sided feed back was just the beginning of the end for me. It was the ban on personal checks and money orders that I disagreed with. Forcing e transactions on buyers and sellers is wrong especially in this economy. I am opening a store on eCrater. Its free. Free listing and free final value fees.

Setting up the store is free. They don't get a cut of the profits. How do they support themselves?

6. I think that
they charge a fee when sellers want to feature their items on the home page of ecrater, or at the top of the catagory page. Otherwise the store front has to rely on the search feature on the home page to get visitors into their storefronts.
