The vase found for the $5 challenge
I got this for $2.98. It's 8 1/2" tall and 6" on the wide diagonal across the top.
The second composite photo has an insert picture of the notch shaped signature near the bottom.

I'm grateful for this challenge because otherwise I wouldn't have gone to the thrift that day. At that price it's fine no matter how it was made. I'm just glad it has no chips.

1. That's really nice! Congratulations. I wonder what the mark is.

2. Thanks! I'm curious about the mark, too
I Googled for <notch signature pottery> and similar words but nothing turned up. I'll try again with more words. I guess it's called a "notch". I don't know about making pottery and how potters sign them.

3. It could be an impressed mark that is supposed to be letters.
Gone terribly wrong, of course. Badly marked pottery and art drives me totally crazy. I usually buy it if I like it and hope someday I'll see something similar and find out who made it. It's a great looking pot, though and at the price you won't feel all kinds of guilt if you actually use it for flowers.
